Second page of How to Loathe Drawing Manga Style, my webcomic. Loosely based on real events during my years at becoming a manga style comic artist during the 1980's up to even this day.

If you've never been to an anime convention this one may need some explaining. When anime cons started around the 1990's, they we're, or some even to this day *coughANIMEEXPOcough*, are run by really juvenile anime purists who think anything related to anime should only be done by the Japanese. I know, geeks with power are a very sad lot. Anyways, among some of the selected unpure were american voice actors and artists who really enjoyed anime and manga so much that they were inspired to draw that way. So 'artists alley' or 'artist ghetto', a place where tables were set up for artists to display their works at a convention, were undoubtly a thorn in the side with some conventions. Often times a last minute addition to the convention. So there would be times the alley was set in god awful locations nowhere near convention traffic. Thank goodness a lot of new conventions are now run by artists or who are friends with artists who are finally doing away with the old school, man/boy, woman/girl anime fan geek mentality.
