Artist's Comments

I've been reluctant to post this for several reasons. I had thought this was already up on my website, I long lost the Japanese web url which hosted the oekaki I drew this in, and forgot the name of this Japanese mascot.

Drawn on it's website oekaki a month, I think, before my last oekaki image submission from two years ago. Then, just now, I came across this DA account that is a club based on this same character and web strip. So, yay, I found the website again.

Check out the Habanero-tan strips. They are quite amusing and cute (and, holy sh!t, translated). I'm giddy. I hope to one day try this Japanese snack this character is based on. I'm a sucker for habanero.

I love Habenaro and Milk tan :3 I ended up doing Tans of popular japanese candy as a result of Habenaro. I can't get ove rhow vibrant this picture is for an oekaki, and how spicey her hair looks.

I can't look indecent at all ;^;

There is a game based on her [link] It's entertaining just to watch her walk around but I bet it's even more entertaining if you can actually figure out how to play the game.

What does 'tan' even mean? I've only associated the word with the anime gals that look like game platforms and operating systms. I'm guessing 'mascot' or somethin to that nature. Anyways, thanks. :)

I'd have to wager it's yet another japanese suffix used for girls, only a step above "-chan" in proverbial cuteness.

Great pic by the way, Habanero-tan really could use some extra love from the community. :D
