I just read in a forum someone asking how to make these. Instead of just answering them I thought why not just make my very first Deviant tutorial. I thought it would be fast and fun. It weren't. Unfortunately mine is based from Photoshop 5.0, but the steps can be made in any version. There's probably a faster way to do this, but if it helps, then I've done my job. Enjoy my out-of-date tutorial. Thanks for viewing.

Edit Sorry about the relist. I forgot to make a thumbnail for this big image and there's no edit feature for this.

X3 You seem to do it a bit more complicated than I do... I create a pattern that's 2 px high and one px wide so it only is two pixels- one white, one black. When you fill, it'll tile the rest in so you don't have to make the whole width.
"neko county jail" that is just sooooo cute! Little cat girls jailed in the cat county jail! I wonder if their jumpsuits would have orange and white paw prints all over them? hmmmm *begins to image too much kitty cuteness* *head explodes*
No, the way you do it is the "correct" way of doing it. The horizontal scanline is the simplest of repeatable patterns so learning the basic concept of just making it 2 x 1 px is important. Keeping it as simple as possible becomes really important once you start making complex tiling patterns.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
