Just wanted to give another warning about an imposter account on Instagram. This new account: www.instagram.com/robert_dejes… popped up posing as me, uploading my pieces, and accepting money for commissions. Myself and my kind followers from my Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and now Deviantart have been flagging the account to Instagram. They are still running and still stealing money from unsuspecting followers. I've lost count how many times I've reported them to IG. Do not send these guy(s) any money to their Paypal: pa****e@gmail.com If you are just now coming from that Instagram page and have already sent them money, immediately contact Paypal and file a fraud report. Maybe Paypal will shut these guys down much faster than Instagram.

Thanks for reading and sharing the funny and creative screen grabs of the DM conversations you've had with the scammers.

01/06/2017 Update: The scammer has finally been taken down. Thank you everyone who reported them to IG. Going to leave this up incase the ones who were unluckly scammed by these douche-nozzels can find some kind of closure.

Sigh.  Voice of Speed Racer, Peter Fernandez, past away this morning.  Am glad that Emily and I were able to meet Mr. Fernandez in person at a couple of conventions and had a chance to mention what a big inspiration the show was to me.  He'll be missed.

Thanks, Anime Studio!

:bulletpurple: Stuff that's goin' on.

OK.  I'm an imbecile, Anime Studio.

What was the worst I could possibly imagine happening while giving up my credit information to just simply try out your program?  I downloaded it, tried it for about five minutes, felt it wasn't my thing, shut it off and then completely forgot all about you... until four weeks later.

Thanks for teaching me a huge lesson about the consequences of not reading and fully understanding your particular ToS and, thirty days later, subtracting fifty bucks from my bank account right after the trial ended.  Luckily for me I had just enough to cover your charge because lord knows I've got plenty o' money just lying around to squash high overdraft fees.

So, Anime Studio, if you want to make really easy money from lazy readers, could you at least send them their damn key to open their legit copy of your programs?  It's not like I gave you guys a fake email account.  And, Smith Micro, maker of Anime Studio, if and when you do, I won't share this slightly troubling experience with you to my five thousand followers here on DA.

Ooops.  Damn.  Too late.

:bulletpurple: Stuff that's goin' on.

Thanks to iWeb on the Mac it's helped made web designing easy and enjoyable for this internet old timer.  I just quickly slapped this together to match my theme with my other various website accounts, and much better than a 404 page.  Will have to find another color theme that's bit easier on the eyes, though.

And a big thanks to all who helped and offered input on my last journal.  Should know where I'll be standing much better on commission prices and offering a list later this week after I get a few projects out of the way that are due at the end of the month.  Bear with me and thanks for your patience. :)

Commission Pricing Request

Thu Jun 17, 2010, 1:52 PM
:bulletpurple: Stuff that's goin' on.

A request for serious replies, please.

I'd honestly like to hear back on quotes on what you think I can charge for artwork.  I've looked around for some ideas on pricing and it seems to be all over the scale.  So, I thought why not let you guys do me the honor.

There are probably some stipulations you may need to hear from me on what I'll accept.  Like, I won't draw robots (I like them, but just not my thing to draw).  Furries, again, I would be more prone to accept Pokemon style than, say, drawing characters from Disney.  Male characters, kinda blah, but will accept them, if I have to.  I guess what I'm saying is... I'll only accept sexy woman characters.  There, I said it.

All art will fit on 8.5"x11" card stock.  Anything bigger is just too bulky to ship.

And what about descriptions?  Honestly if people just gave me a name of a character with no other request for a certain look, or pose, and basically just left the idea all to me they will certainly get a damn fine picture.  I really don't work to well and dealing with helicopter clients which is why I stopped doing commissions all together.

Should I accept original characters?  Don't know how many of you have had problems with accepting them because of legality issues, but would love to hear pros and cons of accepting them.

Here's a list of commission types I'd like to hear quotes on.

-Pencil. Full body.  No background. fav.me/d2s0up9
-Pencil. Full body. Ecchi. No background. fav.me/d2rvkb0
-Inks.
-Digital color, with and without inking. banzchan.deviantart.com/art/Ch…

And about payment type?  I own a paypal account.  Haven't used it for a while and afraid of what fees they charge now.  How do you handle them and any other alternatives you find useful?

IMPORTANT!!! If I get requested, private or open, to be asked to be put on a list that doesn't exist yet, it will simple go ignored.  Bear with me until I've hammered this out and make an official announcement in a future journal here on DA.  Thanks.

:bulletpurple: Stuff that's goin' on.

I'm back from Acen.  Lots o' fun.  Can't really say much or who to give my hellos and thank yous to since I've got tons of work to get to before we need to head out to AKon next week.  I hope many who went had just as much fun.

My PSP

Few weeks ago I picked up a PSP, Jax and Daxter edition.  For the longest time I saw absolutely no reason why to get one.  Lack of good games, for a start.  Then when I heard about it's recent upgrade to Skype I just had to have it.  Still waiting on the headphone/mic/remote set to be carried at my local Best Buy, then I'll be set to phone my Skype buddies, call my cellphone friends (for about $30 a year), and finally being able to "trash talk" anyone on Socom later this year.  And because it's a bit large it won't suffer the same horrible fate that my cell phone did- going through the wash several times and rendering it useless.

Anyone remember '90s cartoons?

Stuff that's goin' on.

By a raise of hands, who watched bad 90's cartoons.  Which one's were your favorites, or the ones you hated?  I was going through Youtube, (yeah, where I've been spending the last few weeks) and thought I'd do some reminiscing.

Man, who remembers ExoSquad?  There's a reason I bring up this show, I did some storyboards for it.  I finally found the episode I worked on!  Well, about a minute of it.  I was last minute filler.  I haven't seen this episode since it aired and had never watched an episode before and after this one- so I had no idea what I was doing.  Haw haw!  Anyways...

It's been split into two segments so I'll have to point out my spots.

In part one my boards start at exactly 8:39.

In the second part it ends 35 seconds into the show.

There you have it.  My first tv debut.

My continuity was just awful, slow, and confusing.  Like I said, my only ExoSquad I ever watched in it's entirety.  I liked they added my gun wrestle/pirate face smash into the floor part, though.  XD  I love adding little emotional subtleties like that and surprised they were able to translate that from my boards.  Wish I made the fight scene a little more dynamic.  Oh well.

I'll have to scour my office and look for those pencils I did and post them so you can follow along, and get a laugh at my style back then.

Ok, gawd, enough horn tooting.  Hope you guys had a nice Halloween.  And thank you all for the past comments, watches and faves.  I do read them all, but I've been quite lazy to answer and busy with art jobs.

Catch you around. :)

Stuff that's goin' on.

Office Space beating

Is it me?  Whenever its time to buy the first replacement color cartridge for a new computer printer it never works the same any more.

In the last twelve years I've owned four computer printers and I dread the day when the very first ink cartridge runs out.  Well, my fifth printer was no exception.  A combination scanner and printer by Lexmark.

This morning I replaced the cartridge, closed the cover and, wouldn't you know it, it read an error.  Even though the cover was closed it kept asking me to 'close cover.'  After an hour I find that a trigger had snapped off.   The trigger worked like those telegraph machines that sent morris code.  The entire mechanisim were no bigger than the tip of my pointing finger.  The 'finger' of the printer cover had to press this thing down to tell the printer that the cover were closed.  The axel, I'd guess you'd call it, that held it together was no thicker than a tooth pick and that's what snapped off.

After a second hour and a half went by and a few factory warranty violations later I sliced up a rubber eraser and lodged it in there so it would hold down the button and the printer worked fine.

It's just when you're inspired and ready to work, this is the last thing you want to begin working on.

Eff'ing printers.

Have some new cons coming up very soon.  This weekend is Sogen Con in Sioux Falls, and in November is Youma Con in Detroit.  Information and links are down below.  Hope to catch some of yous there.

Ciao.

Finally saw the first episode last night.  Idunno.  I loved the pilot so much better.  Looked like there was going to be some nice dramatic continuity throughout the season for a change.  It had it moments, but... blah.

Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil pilot

Lucy on Adult Swim

It looks as if half the budget was cut. Where's the hypoallergenic dog?  Where's the black priest? Also seems as if the CN executives told them to dumb it down for the usual demographic that they so wanna latch on to so desperately; 16-27 year old, pot smoking males.  Like there isn't enough Squidbillyish shows already.  Sigh.

I'm hot.  It's blazing here in the attic office and my teeny window air conditioner is losing the battle.  Makes my hands sweat and makes it tough to draw on paper.  I'll have to work during the cool nights.  Guess I can play WoW till then. XD

Stuff that's goin' on.

Just a quick update.

Hand Held portfolios have finally been sent out Monday to those who ordered. Sorry for the delay on those. It became a big case of where the planets needed alignment to finally get them out. No consecutive conventions. The perfect mailing envelopes had to be shipped to me in bulk. Incorrect amount of printing materials. Just the usual joys of doing mail orders. If you're wondering what the heck I yammering on about check out the past journal entry here> [link]

There's a couple more that I still have to send out. Ran out of 'folio covers over the weekend, but picked some new ones up right after the post office visit. Those will get sent out tomorrow.

I know a few more people were asking if I still have some more for sale. Yes. The price will need to spike a bit since shipping costs were a bit more than I had anticipated. Those who asked for them prior to this journal entry will still get the original price of $8.00. New orders will cost an even $10. I'll start a new list of orders here.

This weekend we are going to be at MetroCon. Hope to catch some of you there.

Have a nice holiday weekend.

Back from OMG Con.  Had a great time at OMG.  Not so great when I got violently sick Saturday night from probably consuming something that had gone bad.  Glad to feel somewhat better before the five hour drive back home.  Hope you all had a much better holiday weekend. :D

Portfolios will be going out this week unlike as I had hoped last week.  So I'll be stuffing and labeling envelopes today and tomorrow.  I'm still taking more orders if anyone would like to buy one while I'm preparing my first shipment.  Check below for the brief description.  If you do send a payment, please make sure to include your deviant id in the Paypal info box so I know who to credit as being paid in full in this journal. ;)

Many thanks in advance, thanks for reading and a much bigger thanks to those who helped get me my first gig of ram for my computer.  I highly appreciate the support. ^^

With Anime Boston and Kawaii Kon gone, I were hoping for a nice week to get our batteries recharged and our convention inventory restocked in time for Anime Central this week.  Three days ago I came down with, what I thought were the first signs of a flu I caught on a plane ride, now seems to be it were a bad case of food poisoning.

Emily is feeling better as hers kicked in the day after me.  I can now sit up straight without getting dizzy, cold sweats, and shivers and finally concentrate on work.  Now with one more day till Acen it looks like I'll be working nonstop, making up for lost time.

I'll have a new portfolio ready for Acen.  They sold very well at Boston and Kawaii Kon.  I still don't have a name for it, yet.  It's all pencil sketches of video game characters.  A portfolio for all ages.  I'll have a cover and samples up here for those may want to purchase it online.

Thanksgiving

Hey, hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.  Our was beautiful.  The weather was on my side.  It was gorgeous sunny day and quite warm.  I was outside, beer in one hand, welders glove on the other, and watching my bird fry.  I couldn't have asked for more.

Bet you are wondering what became of my deep fried turkey.

It was delish!  It came out very juicy and tasty.

I was scared at first, but when we dunked it, slowly, and without any of the pirotechnics I've heard so much about, I knew my worries were over.  One just needs to remember to thaw the bird a day before.  If you keep in mind that hot oil and water don't mix, and not tip the pot, you'll be fine.

Alton, thanks for another successful receipe!

Maple Story

Anyone into this?  I downloaded the game.  It's cute.  The designs are awesome.  After a few hours I'm finding the game a bit repetative, and reading in the comments box that there are numerous hackings going on.  Booo.  I'll go back maybe for reference material to do fanart.  But I'll stick to WoW for now.

Ok, back to work for me.

I want to wish you all a very happy and safe Thanksgiving.  By golly, I'm gonna demand we buy more stuffing this year.  It's always the first thing to go.  For once I'd like to have stuffing leftovers on Friday.

I'm a little afraid.  We're deep frying our turkey this year.  A first for me.  I've heard the horror stories of deep frying turkey, but fear not for I have Alton Brown on my side.  I love Good Eats and we recorded the epsiode to aid our turkey frying.

youtube.com/watch?v=i9mq29BaLL… you, Youtube.

Mmmm. looking forward to tomorrow.

Shadow of the Colossus

My goodness, what a fun game for the PS2.  I pick this up two days ago and I lurv it.  I can tell already this is gonna be a quick and short game unless the quests keep going for longer and longer distances.

When I was a five year old I saw the old film, The Amazing Colossus Man.  It gave me nightmares of this giant who picked up our house.  This game brought back those old dreams.  I hope they continue making a series of Colossus games.

Good eats, everyone.

We're back and rested from Neko Con.  We had a fantabulous time.  My doujinshi workshop went very well.  I was very proud of the submissions we received this year.  Thanks all who came by, kept me company, and lended your very kind support.

As always, I am very glad to meet fellow Deviants at these conventions.  Some new and some I've known for years now.  I had the pleasure seeing:

I'm very sure that there were others.  Names and their deviant accounts are foggy on this gloomy Wednesday morning.  Gimme a note, slap me on the back of the head, and I'll give you a shout out here.

But that's it for me for the rest of the year as far as cons go.  I can finally stay home and work on stuff, clean my little office, keep up the Deviantart-Myspace-Livejournal-Website, and, best of all, catch-up on ye ol' Warcraft.  lol
